Halleluiah – I’m blogging again! Isn’t that what you are saying right now?!

You know what I have to say to that? Thanks, Mum!

So, it’s Day 2 of my Expose’ and today’s Advent pressie is…St. Canice Church in Elizabeth Bay.

I discovered this beautiful treasure my first week in town. It’s a charming place that has an quaint and reverent 8:30 Sunday Mass. I came for the view…

…and stayed because it felt like home. Fr. Stephen Sinn is a pretty amazing person and I enjoy seeing him and hearing his homilies each week. Actually, all the priests are wonderful and everyone has been very nice and welcoming.

I can hear the bells from our apartment over Rushcutter’s Bay – it’s a beautiful sound and I’m grateful we moved to a neighborhood with a church so close.

My hubbie and I went on a Harbour Cruise with a bunch from the Parish and it was grand. I don’t have any good pics because it was dark, so here is another picture of the church…

What I like most about St. Canice Church is it doesn’t try too hard – the services aren’t big theatre productions and the priest doesn’t do stand-up or attempt to be overly dramatic like a TV evangelist. The service is thoughtful, compassionate and simple – and I leave filled with grace and purpose.

St. Canice also has wonderful programs for homeless and refugees. It’s a giving Parish – I feel it when I walk through the doors. I respect a Church that gives more than it gets. That is why I feel such a connection, I think.

If you are in the area, I highly recommend a visit to St. Canice in Elizabeth Bay. It has enhanced my life and has helped me feel little more comfortable in this land so far, far away.
