Happy Birthday Jackie – another Sweet & Sassy Godmother!

Horray, horray – one more October Birthday – and this one is super special because it’s for my Godmother and cousin Jackie.
But first – a quick look from my book:

Jackie is beautiful because she is….FAIR and LOVES FAMILY. I couldn’t have asked for a better Godmother. I really do feel like Jackie watches over me. Even though I don’t see her too often, I feel her presence and influence. And though I like to think she loves me best, she makes sure to ask about my brothers and cousin – and is equally interested in all of us…and the rest of our family. When we get together (never enough!), she and Helen spend a lot of time catching up on the latest and greatest from our family.
When we were growing up, we all received gifts until we were 21 – and it was always something interesting from around the world. I still have a lovely silk scarf, pearls, 1976 silver dollar and a real Swiss watch from their travels. The gifts were always personal and exotic. I always felt like they picked the gift especially for me while they were globe-trotting.
Jackie has been adopted by Helen’s family – a big family – and I appreciate she has so many people to look out for her. And even though Jackie spends more time with Helen’s family (they are all in very close proximity), I’ve never felt like she’s favored them over us. When Jackie’s mom (my Aunt Mary) passed away, I attended the funeral. Helen’s family gathered around Jackie and enveloped her with love. I had never seen such devotion. I’m eternally grateful for their care of Jackie and Aunt Mary.
I can tell that traveling has been so good for Jackie. She seems touched and changed by all she has seen. She hasn’t expected the world to adapt to her. She and Helen have done their best to adapt to their environment and appreciate all the different cultures. When I’ve received letters and listened to their tales, I can tell they’ve taken advantage of every opportunity to learn about each country. I admire Jackie for being open to so many new experiences and allowing so many people teach and shape her view of the world.
Happy Birthday, Jackie. Thank you for showing me to beauty of the world through your experiences.

This is a great tribute to our cousin, Jackie !! It’s also a great tribute to Helen and her family !!
We never do get to see Jackie enough, but it’s true that she shows us the world through her many experiences on her travels !
We hope Jackie and Helen have many more adventures in travel, but that they make one of those adventures down south-our way !! It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to visit with them !

Hope you have a wonderful day at the fun beach house. It’s nice to have a great place as a second home. You both deserve it.
Thanks for always being interested in our kids and never criticizing the crazy stuff they or their parents do. You always seem to get a kick out of all the shenanigans. Oh well, it’s all in the family.

Thanks again for the kind words. You remember a lot more than I do about the trip souveniers. Think of you on every trip I take. Wish we lived closer so we could spend more time together, but since that is not likely always enjoy your notes. Love, Jackie
