My Sweet & Sassy Sister – Happy Birthday, Carrie!
Posted on October 18, 2007 in the Real Beauty category
Horray, another October birthday!
You know the drill – here’s an intro to my book: Real Beauty Book Overview
Now the good stuff. I introduced lovely Carrie here: http://kristinrohan.com/2005/12/17/on-the-fifth-day-of-christmas/, but I have so much more to say….
Carrie is beautiful because she is…UNIQUE and ECLECTIC. Carrie is my sister (in-law but who’s counting straws?). I never wanted a sister (I was a brat) but I can honestly say, I grew up and finally received a wonderful gift – a smart, strong and stylish sister who has shown me to free myself from what society says and be my own person.
I always like to see what Carrie is cooking up…she always has something cool and exciting up her sleeve – a new sauce, a new drink, a new game, a new restaurant, or a new band (new to me). I am never disappointed. She turned me onto Indian food, Pigs (the game), hot buttered rum, and boots!
Carrie, like my brother, Andy, is always supportive, too. I don’t remember her ever making fun of me for all my crazy habits. She never laughed when I sang Ramones with a pool cue, danced to Pat Benatar across the floor of a local pub, or blasted Bay City Rollers in our living room.
I like Carrie because she marches to her own drum. She doesn’t care what people think or what this season’s fashion is. She always looks interesting and stylish. She puts thought and creativity into what she wears. Carrie has inspired me not to be afraid to wear what I like. She also led the charge to listen to the Halloween album at Christmas when my parents were gone. That was a blast!
Carrie is an awesome host. Whenever we visit, she has lots of fun plans. I always feel comfortable and welcome at their house. Carrie has a knack for decorating – even to the smallest details. Everything looks exotic and refreshing. She has a glass-paned window hanging in the upstairs bathroom that adds a shabby-chic touch. The downstairs bathroom is painted red with punk posters on the wall. I love it in there! They turned a bare and boring garage into a rumpus/pool/party room. I know Carrie has put a lot of thought into every nook and cranny.
Like I mentioned in one of my posts: http://kristinrohan.com/2005/12/17/on-the-fifth-day-of-christmas/, Carrie is genuine and has a good heart. She is an awesome asset to our family and I love and admire her. I know she’s going to have a great birthday because she loves to celebrate – just like me.
Cheers, Carrie – I raise a delicious hot-buttered rum to you!

Awesome, Kris … I feel the same way (obviously!)
Carrie is the best
Yeah, Carrie! You are great, fun, and unique and fit perfectly into our family. Thanks for being so special to us and to Andy.
Much love, Ginger/Mom and Ed/Dad
You forgot to add she only eats at Zagat rated restaurants. She was secretly laughing at you playing Bay City Rollers (wait, that may be me).
Happy BDay Carrie.
It was so neat to learn more about Carrie ! We never get to spend enough time with her and Andy.
