Sweet & Sassy Birthday Girl of the Day – Grandma Yvonne Brennan
Posted on April 6, 2007 in the Real Beauty category
April 8th is Grandma Yvonne’s birthday. Here is her chapter of my Real Beauty book (link below). Cheers to you, Yvonne!
My grandmother-in-law, Yvonne, is a beautiful woman. The quality that makes her gorgeous is that she is Forever Young. And I don’t mean she tries to be 20. She is energetic and doesn’t let obstacles and inconveniences get in the way of living a vibrant and wondrous life. And, after spending 10 minutes with Yvonne, you understand and believe what a vibrant and wondrous life is.
She embraces new hobbies, digs in to activities (her extensive garden being one of them), jumps into conversations and grabs all that life has to offer. She leaves me breathless from her energy. She is not waiting for old age to happen to her. She dares it to catch her. My money is on Yvonne.
My husband and I attended the Renaissance Faire (http://www.norcalrenfaire.org/) back a few summers. We were exhausted from a long (very hot) day of walking, eating and enjoying the atmosphere. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a ball of fuchsia bouncing around some haystacks in the rest area. I had seen that fuchsia ball before. It was Yvonne chasing and playing with her grandson, Samuel (about 5 years old). She didn’t even look tired when we approached. She just grabbed us, hugged us, and continued to buzz around the faire.
She attends every family function – driving from Eureka to support her extensive family. She is super proud of each and every member of the Rohan Clan – even the extensions (girlfriends, fiancés, friends). She treats everyone like they are part of her family – she is a true matriarch – involved and interested in everyone.
And when she hugs you – wow – you know this is a woman full of love. Yvonne doesn’t act like a child but she expresses herself with purity and honesty – like children do. She doesn’t guard her emotions. They flow like a waterfall and touch all those around her. I can’t help but get caught up in her energy. She’s amazing and beautiful and I hope I will have the vitality and passion that Yvonne has.
Thank you, Yvonne for sharing all you have with me. It’s been a blessing.
