Sweet & Sassy Birthday Girl of the Day – Katie Belding

Today – the first day of Spring, is my cousin’s (http://www.cobravolleyball.com/Players/katiebelding.html) birthday. And because this was my bright idea at the last minute (too late to send in the mail), I thought she could be the “Sweet and Sassy woman of the day”…..yum!
For those of you who don’t know – I am writing a book, “Real Beauty” – a quick synopsis can be found below.
So for Katie’s birthday, she gets her chapter posted for the whole world and God to read. Horray – 2 more people looking at my blog!
I introduced her in my 12 Days of Christmas (5 Golden Rings) but I want to say a bit more as she has many “true beauty” qualities. But I will talk about the one that I find most appealing.
Katie is beautiful because she is THOUGHTFUL. She tries very hard to make sure everyone is happy and pleased. She cares that everyone is having a good time and is comfortable. Katie makes me feel like she is really listening – it sounds simple but can you tell me a list of people who really ponder what you are saying? Katie does.
She’s not a people pleaser in a sense she is a martyr, she is just a wholesome nice lady. I’ve never seen her try to cheat anybody – she has integrity and, in the best sense of the phrase, “what you see is what you get” – she’s a full package.
She works hard to learn things that will help other people. She works hard to find gifts that are perfect for you. She will spoil you and dote on you and make you feel like a million bucks. She goes the extra mile if she thinks it will put a smile on your face.
For my bridal shower, she worked hard to find the best spot for the party – a Victorian Tea House (my favorite). She researched and surveyed, and made sure the planning committee would be happy with her decision and feel like they were an important part of the day. She took pictures during the whole party, and had everyone write sweet notes to me – now that’s a lot, right? But then she put together the most fabulous album for me that combined someone’s picture with THEIR note. I was so touched, I still look at the album often and feel like a queen.
I think she is very beautiful – and if I were her, I’d try to get by more on my looks (her looks) – but she doesn’t. She is one of the most hard-working people I know. I work with a lot of people who “phone it in” or “pass the buck” – not Katie. If there was an award for “Most Hard Working, Best Looking, Funny, Thoughtful Person of the Year,” she’d get the gold medal every year.
So Happy Birthday, cousin, friend, maid-of-honor, and “Sweet and Sassy woman of the day.” I love you and think you are BEAUTIFUL.
