On the third day of Christmas….

my true love gave to me…three French hens…..

There’s this book, “French Women Don’t Get Fat,” and it’s about how great French women look and what their secrets are. It says how French women eat lots of different foods but they only eat very teeny weeny portions. It also talks about balance in your diet and not to eat everything you want every day for every meal.

This is not rocket science. But as a former binge eater, I can tell you – sometimes it’s harder than science. I’m obviously not French and I’ve struggled with my weight FOREVER! And I am really tired of it. I’m trying to get over my obsession with food – well, really BREAD. I love bread. But bread does not love me. So when I think of this Day of Christmas and the 3 French hens (obviously trim and sassy), I think of really trying to maintain balance in my diet. It may be superficial, but I never claimed to be Nietsche.

I hauled my cookies (haha that’s funny) into Weight Watchers about 4 years ago – nothing ever worked for me. I was always a little too chubby. And I hated myself for it. But I followed the program (love the Points) and I lost 25 pounds. It’s been awesome. So I’m a Lifetime member (and former WW Leader) and everyone thinks that’s so easy. But it’s not. It’s easy to stick to the plan and lose weight. But because I’m so darn independent (thanks again, Mom) I like to try to maintain on my own (Core Plan). And I do a pretty good job. I believe in the plan and go back to counting Points from time to time to get back on track, but I want to be more like the French. I want to live with some Joie de Vivre!

I don’t want to avoid the tasty treats – I want to be able to enjoy them all (just a little bit). And as a froogle shopper who loves to get as many treasures for the least dollars, this is hard. I always think quantity, not quality.

So I have to think like the French women. And act like them, too. They are all very sexy (at every age) – and since it’s my birthday tomorrow, I want to enjoy getting older, wiser and sexier! I’ll let you know how that goes.

My new secret is that I also started drinking non-alcoholic beer and wine. I know – party party party! But I like to have a fancy drink when I’m out (I get nervous when I’m empty-handed) and too much water is boring. I’m sure I’ll be a kick to be around at all the holiday parties. And by the way, they taste pretty good. My bloody mary’s (secret recipe) kick butt both ways!

Anyway – about the hen thing, I will eat more poultry and protein and less BREAD.

Au Revoir!
